Panorama Primary School learners bring stories to life

The school celebrated Children's Book Day in glorious style as the children dressed up in their favourite book characters.

Panorama Primary School came alive with colour, imagination, and a shared love of reading as it celebrated Children’s Book Day in response to the Department of Education’s national call to promote literacy.

Learners and teachers embraced the occasion on April 10 by dressing up as their favourite characters from children’s literature. The school was transformed into a vibrant scene straight out of a storybook, with costumes ranging from playful animals and magical wizards to iconic superheroes. The creative display highlighted not only enthusiasm for reading but also the powerful role stories play in shaping young minds.

According to deputy principal Lenandi Pulella, this initiative adds a meaningful educational element to the festivities and the school’s curriculum. School prefects visited junior classes throughout the day. They spoke to younger learners about the importance of reading, sharing personal stories about how books have influenced their own lives. Their message was clear: Reading is a gateway to imagination, knowledge, and empathy.

“Reading is the foundation of all learning. Dressing up brings stories to life and reminds our children that books are not just for lessons, but they are for adventure,” Lenandi said.

The celebration concluded with a lively character parade, followed by an engaging storytelling session that captivated both learners and teachers. The event left the school community inspired and eager to continue exploring the world of books.

“Panorama’s book day celebration stands as a reminder of the enduring importance of reading in education and the joy that stories can bring to learners of all ages.”
