Special operations unit to host second community day

SSOP NPC is hosting its second family fun day at Laerskool Helderkruin on May 2.

Special Operations Patrollers (SSOP) will host its highly anticipated second Community Day on Saturday, May 2, from 10:00 to 16:00 at Laerskool Helderkruin.

This free, family-friendly event is set to be one of the biggest community gatherings of the year.

Focused on building stronger community relationships and promoting safety awareness, the event will bring together residents, security partners, law enforcement, emergency services, and the City of Johannesburg for a full day of engagement and activities.

Attendees can look forward to a wide range of attractions, including community safety displays and live demonstrations, safety training workshops, a classic car show, live music, a children’s entertainment zone, and over 100 stalls.

Additional services such as blood donation drives, pet vaccinations and microchipping, and winter flu shots will also be available.

“This event is about bringing the community together in a meaningful way,” says Leon Marinus, SSOP chairperson.

“We are not charging any entry fees – this is purely an opportunity for residents to engage with one another and with the various organisations working to keep our community safe.”

Entry is free, but tickets are limited and must be secured in advance via Quicket at https://www.quicket.co.za/events/368611-ssop-npc-community-day-2026/#/

Marinus encourages all residents to attend and be part of a day focused on community, safety, and collaboration.
