JRA warns public of fake jobs

Are you looking for a job ? Read to find out how you can avoid falling victim to fake job posts and scammers.

The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has issued a public warning about a fake job advertisement that is currently circulating on social media under the name of a company called Durban Talent.

According to the agency, it is not affiliated with Durban Talent in any way and has not authorised any of the job advertisements being shared. JRA also clarified that it does not endorse the company or its recruitment services.

The agency stressed that all legitimate vacancies are only advertised through official platforms. These include the JRA’s official website, mainstream newspapers, and the City of Johannesburg website. Any job adverts appearing outside these channels should be treated as suspicious.

JRA has urged job seekers to remain alert and avoid engaging with, or trusting job offers that appear too good to be true. The agency further warned the public not to make any payments when applying for jobs, stating that it does not charge application fees for employment opportunities.

For verification, members of the public are encouraged to contact the JRA Human Resources Department directly on 011 298 5000 if they are unsure about any advertised position.

The agency says protecting job seekers from fraud remains a priority and encourages the public to report suspicious recruitment activity.
