Florida CPF elects new executive committee members

Newly elected structure vows to strengthen community safety, crime prevention, and public education initiatives in the Florida policing precinct.

Executive committee members of the Florida Community Policing Forum (CPF) were formally nominated and elected during a meeting held on May 20.

The election process took place at Rainbow FM’s boardroom and was led by Ibrahim Asvat from the Johannesburg CPF District and Thabo Thipe from the Department of Community Safety. Committee members from all three sectors also attended the meeting.

Riaz Jogee was elected as chairperson, while Mukundwa Tshinavhe, commonly known as MK, was appointed deputy chairperson. Dr Teresa van Niekerk will serve as the public relations officer, with Mona-Lisa Lewedi taking on the role of secretary, assisted by deputy secretary Salwaa Begg. Hennie Arlow was elected treasurer of the committee.

Additional committee members include Gertrude Vukela, Ana Smith, Nadia van Niekerk, and Jabulani Mahlaule.

The Florida Police Vispol commander, Colonel Ivy Mabuso, and the station commander, Colonel Frans Marweshe, congratulated the newly elected members and wished them success in their new roles.

“I’m happy that a new structure has been elected, and we are hopeful that we will continue educating people and fighting crime in our area,” said Marweshe.
