Little Republic Pre-School hosts annual environmental celebration
Day filled with free train rides, enviro-education and tons of snacks
A more eco-conscious society begins in the hearts of children.
Little Republic Pre-School held their annual Environmental Day celebration at Len Rutter Park on April 29. Enticing friends and family with free miniature train rides, a morning of picnicking in the park was on the cards. Each year, Little Republic attaches a different theme to the eco-education and this year was about creating awareness around the water wasted by the clothing industry.

The water-wise theme was a warning about the dangers of expending a natural resource on the limited utility of excessive clothing production. Driving home the message, cards with informative facts about the the clothing industry’s relationship with nature were dotted around the miniature station. To tie the cause together, Little Republic collected bundles of children’s clothes that will go to Baby Moses Sanctuary and Just In Time Baby Sanctuary.

Co-owners of Little Republic, Mandy-Lee Smith and Marissa Meyer, had a word of thanks for their community. “We are once again overwhelmed by the amasing support from our parents and children celebrating our annual Environmental Day. We took a different approach to our clean-up and decided to give back to our community while teaching the children about the recycling of clothes and how important it is to help the Earth. We challenged our little ones to collect one outfit from their cupboards and one toy to donate to a less-fortunate friend”.

“It truly was amasing to see how enthusiastic and generous the children were to help make a difference and after a very successful day at Len Rutter train park we were able to fill up 10 big boxes of clothes! We want to thank everyone for their donations and for spending the day with us.
To ER24 for their continued support, as well as Rand Society of Model Engineers for hosting Little Republic for our third annual Environmental Day celebration. It is wonderful to see that so many people are willing to help make a difference and this just confirms to us that one act of kindness really can change the world.’’
