Crawford joins global Earth Day celebration

Crawford Ruimsig joined in on global Earth Day celebrations by enjoying the outdoors.

Earth Day is known for honouring and highlighting environmental challenges and celebrating the efforts made by individuals to raise awareness on environmental issues. This year’s official theme, Planet vs Plastics, highlights the urgent need to address plastic pollution.

Crawford Ruimsig joined the global celebration of Earth Day on April 22. The school switched off their lights during their fifth lesson to conserve power for one hour as part of their contribution to Earth Day.

During this one hour, learners left their classrooms to enjoy the outdoors engaging in recycling and learning more about the importance of Earth Day.

“Our preparatory students pledged to make changes that benefit the planet, and we sorted waste into categories like plastics, food, and polystyrene for recycling and reuse. Our preschool Crawfordians also got involved, making wonderful masterpieces while learning about Earth Day,” David Maree, the principal of Crawford, said.
