Florida Park’s matriculants celebrate their results

The day was a memorable one for the matriculants, and they closed off a good chapter.

Florida Park High School’s Class of 2025 proudly received their results on Tuesday, January 13, marking an end to a journey worth its weight in gold.

The moment was filled with pride and celebrations as the learners reflected on their school years and the journey ahead.

Sharing with the Roodepoort Record, the matriculants were buzzing with excitement and uncertainty about their plans. Many are eager to start university, enter the workforce, and embark on adulthood.

While others are taking a gap year to explore their interests, some are focusing on getting their driver’s license.

The Class of 2025 obtained a pass rate of 88% for the first time in history. Gauteng placed third nationally with an average of 89.06%, while Johannesburg West is the best-performing district with 96.2%.

MEC for Education Matome Chiloane announced the province’s matric results in Centurion, saying the 89.06% pass rate was ‘remarkable’ and the highest in the history of the province.

He praised the Class of 2025 for their dedication and hard work, saying their achievement was not a fluke or due to lowered standards.

“It is not by accident, and it is not by lowering standards, but it is by the 140 000-plus young people showing up [and] many of them against the odds,” he said.
