TKSWR welcomes Gr 1 learners

The new uniforms and friends marked the beginning of a new journey and parents watched proudly as the children took their first big steps.

Many schools around the country welcomed both new and returning learners to their premises on Wednesday, January 14, and The King’s School West Rand (TKSWR) opened its doors to a group of new Grade One learners.

The day brought excitement, joy, and positivity for most parents and their children, even though it was difficult for most of them to let go of their little ones’ hands, leaving them under the care of their trusted teachers.

At first, many learners were scared to make friends, but soon found themselves having small conversations with each other that led to the beginning of new friendships. By the time recess came, happy screams could be heard from the playgrounds as they shared their lunches and enjoyed challenging each other playing games on the field.

When recess ended, some of the learners could be seen stressing over the fact that they had forgotten how to complete the activities the teacher taught them in the morning, but new friends assured them that it was OK and the teacher would help them remember how to carry out those certain activities.

Back inside the classrooms, each learner sat at their designated desk and started working on the tasks given by their respective class teachers. As the day came to an end, the little ones left the school looking forward to another day of learning and playing, sharing fun moments with their friends.
