I was quite intrigued by the editor’s column, The Good, the bad and the ugly (week ending 18 October) as many of your readers seem to believe that by burying their heads in the sand that all the doom and gloom such as crime will cease to exist.
I believe that these people are indirectly contributing towards the scourge that is currently plaguing our country.
There is an old saying: forewarned is forearmed. The articles on crime that you so often publish keep one informed and updated on the dangers that affect our lives and those of the community. It is normal for people to show little or no concern when they have not been traumatised by the effects of crime. This does not mean that one should not publish articles regarding pleasant things, but one should be concerned about the growing dangers of constant criminal activity in the country, as it is quite real.
