Nepotism rules?

James Dryja from Roodepoort West writes:

We are hearing more and more about a councillor’s family members having been nominated to stand in the upcoming Joburg ward committee elections, in the councillor’s own ward committee.

Surely this would be unethical? It is most peculiar, particularly as the other nominees and the councillor previously enjoyed excellent working relationships, yet those other nominees now are in opposition with the councillor’s family.

Has the Record heard about this and what are the actual facts? How widespread is it? The last thing surely this new fledgling multi-party council needs is those words of criticism such as conflict of interest and nepotism now being levelled against it.
