Why do they walk around with dangerous weapons?

Pierre Joubert from Roodepoort writes:

I would like to ask the police a question. Why are people allowed to walk around with very dangerous weapons such as pangas, machetes, spears and axes, and nothing is being done about it?

I served in the police force for many years and during that time, should we find a person with a pocket knife longer than the palm of your hand, that person was arrested for being in possession of a dangerous weapon.

I am very curious because according to the weapon laws, if they still exist, this is wrong. I feel that no person should be allowed to carry such a weapon on him or her in public.

The President Mr Zuma and the police must please look into this matter. This is a big concern and I do not want to criticise anybody. We all have families and we just want to ensure that they are safe.
