Trinityhouse athletes secure place at nationals
Hard work and dedication paid off for the three learners, earning them the opportunity to compete against the country’s best athletes.
Trinityhouse Little Falls is celebrating the achievement of three of its learners who have qualified for the Gauteng team after competing at the Gauteng Athletics Championships this past weekend.
Khodani Nwedo, Ontlametse Maherry, and Bonolo Chaane will now represent the province at the High Schools National Athletics Championships in April in the North West province.
“We as a school are extremely proud of each of our athletes, as it is proof that through hard work and dedication, much can be achieved,” said the school’s sports and arts co-ordinator Agri Zondi.

He added that the athletes’ passion and the support they get from home, school, and club have been key to their success.
“They are spending all the necessary time training hard and improving their skills. Despite the rains that have fallen, which delayed some of their preparations, they have been in good spirits,” Agri said, commenting on how the trio is preparing for the national competition.

For Khodani, making the national team was a dream come true.
“It is great to have competed at the Gauteng champs and to have achieved a lifelong dream to compete at national champs against some of the best athletes in the country,” he said.

Bonolo said the provincial competition was tough but exciting.
“Gauteng Champs was tough, but I am looking forward to competing at national champs,” she said.
Meanwhile, Ontlametse described the event as challenging but motivating.
“It was mentally challenging, and the competition was incredible. It has, however, reminded me to keep on pushing,” he said.
“Dream big and then put in as much work as possible to achieve that dream,” Agri said as words of motivation to young athletes who aspire to compete at this level.
