Dynamic Wilro Park dancer proves to be the best among the rest
By the end of February 2020 she became a Premier Championship dancer: the highest level one can achieve in the competitive world, where every single dancer is only the best of the best.
Jada Ann Crolls has exactly two weeks till she arrives in Blackpool UK for the World Freestyle Dance Championship where she will represent South Africa. It will be a truly proud and impressive moment for her, her family and the community.
The 13-year-old grade 8 learner has been a dancer since the age of three and has dipped those talented toes in many different genres of dance.
She began with ballet, dabbled in some hip hop but the swift and accelerated, powerful passion of the freestyle dancing world came to Jada’s attention mid-2018.
According to her mother Monika, this has changed her world in every respect. The once timid, shy, sweet little girl is now an assured, confident and positive young lady, whose dreams are literally unfolding in front of her.
After Jada and her mother had walked into DanceCorp, a vibrant high-energy freestyle dancing studio in Wilrokrans in April 2018, she started with syllabus work that the studio facilitates under the auspices of the South African Dance Teachers Association (SADTA). She excelled in the syllabus work and was in awe of what the competitive dancers were demonstrating.
She and her coach and dance trainer, Shannon Dunbar have been an unstoppable dynamic duo since.
Throughout the SADTA and associated competitions Jada progressed from Beginner to Championship level very quickly and by the end of 2019 she was a double South African Champion after taking home ten out of the 11 Championship Freestyle and Slow dance titles.
By the end of February 2020 she became a Premier Championship dancer: the highest level one can achieve in the competitive world, where every single dancer is only the best of the best.
Unfortunately, the idea of attending the World Freestyle Dance Championships in 2020 and 2021 quickly faded due to the impact of the pandemic.
Jada danced at stipulated qualifying competitions throughout 2021 and has now qualified to go to the World Champs, meaning she has been chosen by her association to be a South African representative in freestyle and slow dance in Blackpool, UK this June.
By winning the 12/13 Championship section at Discorama on May 14, Jada has now progressed to the final step of freestyle towards Premier Championship level.
For Jada and Shannon it is currently blood, sweat and tears in preparation of the World Championships.
Jada dances two to four hours a day, five times of week and nothing stops this determined young lady to make her dreams come true.
“We cannot be prouder of her transformation in mind, body and soul; she is a serious force and a hard worker. Let’s see what awaits her at the World Champs,” said Monika.
