Career expo empowers matriculants

Matriculants from Future Nation Schools Fleurhof receive guidance on careers.

For many matriculants, figuring out what to do after school can be a very daunting process.

In a bid to support and guide learners in this journey, the Rocking Future Career Expo team visited Future Nation Schools Fleurhof in early March.

The expo aimed to help learners choose their best career path, develop their skills, and find employment in a country with a critically high youth unemployment rate.

Kay Cheytanov, the creator of this career expo, said that by presenting the learners with a wide variety of choices from private tertiary institutions, they remove the barrier to entry that they face when applying for state university slots.

“Private tertiary institutions, although certified with the same qualifications, have less red tape and can place learners in study choices according to their needs.

“They also offer skills development courses all the way up to Master’s Degrees. Most of the institutions we represent are also accredited overseas, and that opens more doors for their students.

“The expo creates and shares impactful moments with learners where passion meets purpose and learners walk away inspired, informed and excited about their futures instead of anxious and uncertain about what lies ahead,” she said.

The first hour featured a live show that talked to learners about opportunities after matric, and the second hour, learners could meet college representatives and learn about study options.

“The expo was informative. I’m actually excited and nervous at the same time for the future,” said Keatlegile Mngadi, who wants to study biomedical health sciences.

Mniki Motseki added, “The day was insightful and informative, especially this time of year when you’re figuring out what to do next year.”
