Muggings in Rosebank a cause for concern

The recent wave of muggings in Rosebank is a cause for concern to residents.

This came to the fore at the meeting of Saxonwold and Parkwood residents association.

The Rosebank Community Policing Forum expressed the concern that pedestrians and domestic workers appeared to be targeted by criminals.

The forum made a call to the residents to warn their domestic workers in the suburb that muggings were still rife. Pedestrians were advised to protect their valuables and not stop to talk to anyone driving past.

At the meeting, the ADT security also warned the residents of the bogus ADT guards who attacked a woman in Linden.

Allegedly, the guards had knowledge of her keypad code, let themselves in and knocked on the front door.

They pretended to be there to check her alarm system. She was then attacked.

Residents were warned to be aware of these bogus guards and are asked to phone the company’s head office in the event of such situation. They were told that any emergency signal would receive a call from the head office first.

It was announced that the next MAD Domestic Worker meeting would be held on June 25 at 12h00 at the SA Museum of Military History. The topic for June would be ‘Know Your Neighbour and Critical Domestic Information’.

Residents were reminded to have their police sector vehicle number at hand. The number for Parkwood and Saxonwold is 071 657 6041.
