Craig Cox’s words of wellbeing
ROSEBANK - Meet Rosebank-based therapist and counsellor Craig Cox, a regular contributor to rosebankkillarneygazette.co.za
Cox’s weekly blog, Words of Wellness, aims to provide pointers for personal growth, and sprang from his passion for seeing people at their best.
Cox spends his days working as a stress management consultant, life coach, specialist massage therapist at a Pretoria health spa, and as a psychic, tarot counsellor, inyanga and hypnotherapist in Rosebank.
When asked how he found his calling in life, Cox replied, “When I was a child, I was fully psychic and was supported with this by my family. I started studying religion at school, and by the age of 16, I was studying magic.”
He said his magical studies progressed to the study of alchemy, qabalah, angelology, demonology, hermetics and energy healing.
“I have explored consciousness for a long time, but I don’t buy into the hype of the new age guru divine consciousness stuff. I was schooled in a down to earth, mystical manner, and expect to receive and produce tangible results,” he said.
Born in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia), Cox moved to South Africa after his first year of junior school.
“I went to a government school until my Standard 4 year, and then moved to an all-boys Catholic school from Standard 5 until matric,” he said.
He then studied psychology, philosophy, archaeology, geology, anthropology, music and English literature at Wits University and Unisa.
“I had a lot of fun, but dropped out in my final years. Over time, I attained diplomas in IT, 3D animation, diamond evaluation and export management. I’m a certified hypnotherapist, as well as a qualified traditional healer, herbalist or inyanga, and I recently obtained a Bachelor’s degree in metaphysical science,” he said.
In his spare time, Cox keeps busy with outdoor activities like rock climbing, hiking and working in his vegetable garden.
“I also enjoy gym, meditation, cooking, and going for coffee or a beer with my friends,” he said.
Cox said the one message he would share with the world would be to “keep things simple, take decisive action, make a point of being happy, and take some time each day to just be yourself in the moment.”
