International talent scout snaps up local pupil

A Grade 11 pupil at Kingsmead College Jemma Potgieter had been invited by internationally-acclaimed talent scout Kim Myers to the International ARTS Showcase in Orlando, Florida next year.

This after she performed at Summer Heat Gauteng and at a showcase at Monte Casino.

Some of the world’s biggest agents, labels, managers and casting directors attended the showcase.

Scholarships for schools such as the New York Film academy were given out too.

Potgieter said, “I have made a short clip of under five minutes that explains the terrible situation in Tibet, as raising awareness is the first step to help the situation. Earlier this year I visited a Tibetan refugee town in India and was shocked at how little international attention the oppression in Tibet has received. Being extremely interested in the arts, I am helping in the only way I know how.”
