Yeshiva shines in public speaking

Yeshiva College High School pupils participated in the annual Speech and Drama College Speech Festival that took place.

There were 52 participating schools, and it took place around Johannesburg where one candidate was elected from each school to participate in the Best Speaker competition.

This year Ziv Shani, a Grade 12 pupil, claimed this position and was awarded an A+ for his performance.

The competition is divided into two categories – junior and senior high schools’ competition. The junior competition consists of pupils from grades 7 to 9 and their subject this year was a line from a South African song.

The school’s marketing manager, Jessica Klein said, “Our pupils performed excellently and we are proud of what they achieved.”

Pupils from grades 10 to 12 spoke on a line from a South African play in the high school competition, and Yeshiva College won this section.

“We are extremely proud of their [pupils] performance and we thank all the teachers and coaches who took part in guiding them. They ensured that the speeches were of an impeccable standard and that the delivery was of the highest standard,” said Klein.

The college also participated in the South African Guild Speech and Drama Festival in March, and Grade 10 pupil, Gila Rosen was awarded a Prestige certificate for her admirable performance.
