Win tickets to Storm Fest SA

LINKSFIELD - Storm Fest SA will be hosting a music festival like no other at Linksfield Primary School.

The festival, which is aimed at raising funds for the school, will start at 12pm and members of the public have been invited to attend.

Principal of the school, Arnold Bridges said the school was not in a good financial state and needed help raising funds. “We are a government school and as far as funding is concerned, the budget allocated to us by the education department does not go a long way,” he said.

Bridges added that because of the demographics of his school, they admitted pupils from Orange Grove and Cyrildene, most of whom were from households that struggle financially.

The money raised from the festival will, according to Bridges, help in the school’s projects including assisting pupils to get school uniforms.

The festival will boast performances by, among others, the school’s alumnus Storm in Africa, as well as Black Byrd, Brent Harris & Thee Jam, Saving Silence, Mean Mr Mustard and DJ Vin Deysel.

Storm Fest SA’s Robby Harrison said the initiative aims to provide the school with funds to enable upgrades on computer systems to improve teaching and learning. “We want to raise money for the school while promoting South African talent,” he said.
