Banging German school basar
PARKTOWN - Thousands flocked to Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg for a taste of Germany at the annual basar.
The fundraising event boasted a selection of local and imported beers, German food and specialities, children’s games, a market, and a sizzling line-up of local music acts.
School spokesperson, Savo Ceprnich said the organisers were delighted by the success of the event.
“We are very happy with the turnout. The weather played its part, and a very festive time was had by all,” he said.
“Our band line-up of Graeme Watkins Project, CrashCarBurn, The Illustrators, Sutherland, and Only Forever kept the crowd entertained.”
The event was made possible through generous sponsorship from Lufthansa, MSC Cruises, Volkswagen South Africa, Savanna Cider, Toyota, Nictus Furnishers, Wiesenhof, Tsogo Sun, Ster-Kinekor and Main Hardware.
The main prize of the basar raffle, a flight for two to Europe, was courtesy of Lufthansa.
“We are proud of our event, and that we offer something for the whole family in a safe environment,” said Ceprnich.
