KILLARNEY – Metzuyan restaurant at Killarney Mall hosted the launch of Shani Krebs’ book, Dragons & Butterflies, an account of the author’s youth and 18 horrific years spent in a Thai jail.
While in jail he developed his talent for art and is fast becoming a well-recognised artist and author.
At the launch, Krebs’ art was on exhibition and he donated one of his phenomenal paintings for auction. About 70 people attended the function and Krebs gave an inspiring talk about faith and second chances.
Those who bought his book were able to get their copies personally autographed. Metzuyan, who celebrate their 7th birthday this month, catered food for the occasion and co-owner Simeon Hurwitz won the bid for the painting, Runaway express love train.
The painting was auctioned for R12 500 and the proceeds have been donated to Yad Aharon & Michael, the Jewish food fund that assists 550 needy Jewish families in Johannesburg with weekly food parcels.
