According to police, it is alleged that the suspects caught a man stealing at the Yeoville market. Yeoville police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said, “It is alleged that the suspects undressed the alleged thief, then they assaulted him and put paint all over his body.”
Malatji said a docket of assault and sexual assault was registered and was being investigated by Yeoville police. The suspects were expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
Meanwhile in a separate incident, a man was arrested for pointing a firearm and possession of a dangerous weapon at the corner of Minors Street and Grafton Road. Malatji said the complainant was busy working at a construction site when the suspect approached him and pointed a firearm at him and threatened to shoot him. He said the complainant ran away and alerted the police. “The suspect was traced and found a few blocks away from the place of the incident and was arrested. A toy gun was found in his possession,” Malatji said. The suspect was expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court soon.
