The police noticed a suspicious-looking individual on the corner of Hunter and Bezuitenhout streets at 4pm, and after stopping and questioning the suspect, arrested him on charges of drug possession.
Dagga was found in his possession weighing 6.8 grams. The suspect was taken to the Yoeville Police Station and is expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court soon.
Constable Thabo Malatji commented on the arrest, “We are using a new intricate method whereby informers will let us know if there is any suspicious activity going on.”
He added, “We are taking this type of offense very seriously as we aim to rid the streets of drugs. We are targeting those that deal in drugs and those that use drugs. We want the public to know that we have a zero tolerance when it comes to drugs.”
