Two suspects apprehended for stolen property

YEOVILLE - Two suspects were arrested for possession of stolen property on the corner of Raymond and Hopkins streets on 17 January in Yeoville.

Yeoville police officers were on a routine patrol when they noticed a man acting suspiciously. Police searched the suspect and found him in possession of a stolen cellphone. The suspect told the officers that the cellphone belonged to a friend who was sleeping close by.

Police found the sleeping man and found a stolen driver’s licence in his possession that had been stolen from a vehicle in the area.

Constable Thabo Malatji said, “We are linking the suspects with other theft in the area. I expect that they are involved in other various crimes.”

The suspects were then taken into custody and are expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court.
