Man arrested for murder three hours after crime

YEOVILLE - The Yeoville police have arrested a 41-year-old man in connection with a murder that took place in Yeoville.

The man was arrested at 6am on 24 January after the police received a phone call, made their way to the scene at 3am and followed information provided by the witnesses.

When they arrived, the police found a man with a number of stab wounds to the chest. The paramedics declared the male dead at the scene.

Constable Malatji of the Yeoville police said, “Witnesses on the scene provided information that lead us to the suspect involved with the stabbing of the victim. This proves to the public that if they come forward to the police with information, we are able to strengthen our case substantially and potentially lead us to the perpetrator.”

The suspect is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
