Award nominee movie Selma premiers in South Africa.
HOUGHTON - THE Nelson Mandela Foundation based in Houghton co-hosted the South African premiere of the American historical drama film, Selma, along with Videovision Entertainment at Montecasino on 25 January.

On hand to welcome guests was the foundation’s CEO, Sello Hatang.
The premiere attracted many high profile guests, among them were CEO of Absa Group; Maria Ramos and her husband; former Minister of Finance Trevor Manuel, former Minister of Public Enterprises Barbara Hogan and her husband, struggle veteran Ahmed Kathrada; and visionary South African filmmaker Anant Singh.
Other special guests included well-known casting director, Moonyeenn Lee and her daughter, Cindy; and International Olympic Committee member Sam Ramsamy with his wife Helga.
The epic movie has been nominated for two awards for Best Picture and Original Song at the 87th Academy Awards. The movie hits cinemas in South Africa on 6 February.
The movie is based on the epic march undertaken by Dr Martin Luther King Jr and his followers in pursuit of equal rights.
