BRAMLEY – THE BRAMLEY police are prepared to protect women and uphold their dignity at all costs according to Warrant Officer Moses Mapakela. Mapakela said, “It has come to our attention as the South African Police Service that women are scared to come to the police to report cases of domestic violence. This should not be the case as we are here to protect the rights of all citizens.”
This follows an incident that occurred on 6 February in Bramley whereby a woman was allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend at his residence. According to the statement given by the complainant to the Bramley police, an argument ensued with her boyfriend over plans to attend a funeral. The argument got violent and the female sustained open wounds to her legs. A suspect has been arrested and will appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court soon.
