Yeoville police apprehend armed robber
YEOVILLE - THE Yeolville police arrested a male at the corner of Raleigh and Fortesque roads in Yeoville on 1 March. The suspect, believed to have been accompanied by four other suspects, allegedly cornered a victim on the corner of Raleigh and Fortesque roads and robbed him of his cellphone, money and items of clothing.
The Yeoville police were on a routine patrol when they noticed five men acting suspiciously. When the suspects saw the police approaching, they fled the scene. However, the police were able to apprehend one of the suspects. He was found to be carrying one item of the victim’s clothing.
Constable Thabo Malatji of the Yeoville Police said, “We are on the hunt for the other suspects and we expect to arrest them shortly. We will not stop until we have brought these thugs to justice.”
The apprehended suspect was arrested and detained at the Yeoville Police Station. He is expected to appear at the Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court soon.
