Ward councillor Jack Cooper said, “Burst pipes seem to be an epidemic in Johannesburg as a whole. It is curious that the government will spend a large amount of money on the Rea Vaya when the piping seems to be in disrepair.”
Local resident Devon Virgil said, “The burst pipe is causing a huge amount of damage to the pavement, it is caving in and has cracked the entire side.
“Who will take responsibility when the road starts taking strain and why is there a large amount of money being spent on a road that is 400m away when Klein Street gets neglected?”
Spokesperson for Joburg Water Millicent Kabwe said, “We are working on the infrastructure of piping throughout Johannesburg. We apologise to the public for any inconvenience the public may face when dealing with burst pipes.”
