Killarney Country Club parkrun encourages locals to hit those fitness goals

Eager locals and fitness enthusiasts showed up in droves at the Killarney Country Club’s parkrun.

Locals and fitness enthusiasts began their Saturday morning with a 5km run or walk on August 8 at Killarney Country Club.

Some participants had their eyes on their watches, checking their times in order to beat their previous achievements, while others simply wanted to walk for fun.

Run director Kellyn Botha said, although the parkrun was fairly new, it was well received and the turnout was good.

“The idea of the parkrun came about after I spoke to a mutual friend who also wanted to start a parkrun, because it is one way for people to stay fit while enjoying their mornings.”

Botha added that, although new participants were always welcome, the parkrun would appreciate more volunteers who help make the parkrun a success.

Participant Cade Peters said he enjoyed his 5km run. “I am a visitor today.

I ran 5km, which was refreshing and fun.”

The Killarney Country Club parkrun takes place every Saturday from 08:00–09:00.
