
Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said, “Police in Gauteng seized eight illegal guns over the weekend and arrested eight suspects. These suspects will be charged with illegal possession of unlicenced firearms. Further investigation may also lead to these suspects being charged with various other crimes including robbery, assault with grievous bodily harm and murder.”
According to Colonel Dlamini, these firearms were seized in Kagiso, Bekkersdal, Springs informal settlement, Germiston, Loate, Hillbrow, Johannesburg Central and Tembisa.
The suspects will appear at various magistrate courts soon.
Colonel Dlamini added, “Public members will be rewarded if any information that they supply may lead to the recovery of illegal firearms, arrests and conviction of criminals wanted for serious and violent crimes. Any information received will be regarded anonymous.”
