Craighall Park residents halts break-in

CRAIGHALL PARK - A CRAIGHALL Park resident has urged residents to be vigilant after his security gate was broken with a crowbar and car window smashed for the second time, in an attempted break-in which occurred in the early hours of 30 May.

According to Mark van Niekerk, a man dressed in dark clothing jumped over his electric fence and proceeded to his home’s security gate at about 3.50am on Saturday.

“I heard glass breaking and I knew something was wrong,” said Van Niekerk.

He explained that after hearing the glass breaking, his wife looked through their bedroom window and saw a man standing in the yard.

“I started shouting at the man, who then jumped over the wall and ran down the street,” he said.

Van Niekerk alerted his security company, CSS Tactical and Parkview police, who arrived at the scene minutes later.

Parkview police are still investigating the matter.
