According to Patrick Modetse, who fell victim to one of the gang in March this year, he has seen them target another individual.
Modeste said, ” I saw a man on the corner of Corlett [Drive] and Atholl-Oaklands Road closely follow two females. I have become wary because of how I was robbed in March.”
He explained how the pickpocket edged himself closer to the women and removed a purse from one of their handbags and walked away.
“I saw this at around 5pm, and at that time of day there are a lot of people who gather to catch buses on Atholl-Oaklands Road,” added Modeste.
“The people need to be aware that this is happening. These guys are good at what they do.”
Sergeant Nurse Sanyane of Norwood police said, “This is an age-old problem throughout the country. The public needs to be aware of their surroundings and always look out for suspicious individuals. Make sure you keep your valuables stowed away safely.”
