Safety tips for the Rosebank community
ROSEBANK- Rosebank police shares some safety tips that will help keep their community safe.
The Rosebank police would like their community to be safe at all times.
They have therefore shared some tips that will help residents to react proactively to prevent themselves from becoming a victim of crime. “There will always be a sector vehicle on patrol in the Rosebank precinct should anyone feel that they are being followed, hear a strange sound or notice something out of the ordinary,” said Rosebank police spokesperson Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe. “They are urged to call us immediately.”
Driveway safety
- When entering or exiting your driveway lookout for unknown person/s loitering nearby or stationary vehicles outside your property
- Do not linger in driveways or on the roadside
- When someone hoots at your gate, do not just open the gate but verify who the individuals are that are wanting to the enter the property
- After opening the gate – make sure the gate has closed
- Have access to a panic button or phone when opening the gate.
Home safety
- Ensure all security gates and doors are locked at all times
- When gardeners are working outside the property, ensure they close all the external doors and gates
- Beware of strangers posing as service providers. Inform domestic staff not to allow strangers onto the property unless expected or they show the relevant identification
- Always have a panic button or phone readily available
- Test your alarm system to ensure it is in working order.
Vehicle safety
- Do not leave valuables such as laptops, iPads and cellphones in your vehicle for an extended period of time
- If you need to leave valuables in the car, place them in the boot where they are not visible
- Make the transition between your vehicle and your destination speedily. Do not linger
- Remember to lock and activate your car alarm when leaving your vehicle in any public or private space
- Do a quick check to ensure the car is locked. Press the button, test the door and go.
