It has been reported that the suspect was shot 10 times at a property in Jeppestown on 6th Avenue.
The DA Shadow Minister of Police, Dianne Kohler Barnard MP, DA Shadow Deputy Minister of Police, Zakhele Mbhele MP and DA Gauteng Shadow MEC for Safety & Security, Kate Lorimer MPL, will be at the Hillbrow Police Station in Johannesburg, Gauteng, to pay respects to the members of our SAPS who have been murdered.
The DA will also present its plan to address the resourcing and training problems encountered in the SAPS, which should be the focus in trying to ensure that our police officers are able to carry out their duties safely.

UPDATE: 24 August; 8.44 am – Mofokeng said investigations led to the property and both the suspects have been linked to the shooting of two Hillbrow police officers on 22 August.
Mofokeng said that two police officers sustained minor injuries in this morning’s shooting and have been taken to a nearby hospital.
Mofokeng stated that the police acknowledge the role of the community and their contribution to finding these suspects.
The gun that was used to shoot the police officer has been recovered.
24 August; 7.35 am – It has been reported that a suspect linked to the murder of a police officer in Hillbrow on 22 August was shot dead by police in Hillbrow on the morning of 24 August.
In the early hours of the morning on 22 August two policemen were shot, one was killed while the other was wounded.

On the morning of 24 August two suspects, who are thought to be linked to the shooting of the police officers, were involved in a shootout with police.
According to the SA Police Service, one of the suspects was fatally wounded and the other suspect was arrested.
A firearm was also seized at the scene.
