Three men arrested for mugging and stabbing in Yeoville

JOBURG - Three men were arrested for robbery on the corner of Dunbar and Regent streets, Yeoville, on 29 August at about 11pm.

According to Constable Thabo Malatji of Yeoville Police Station, a man was walking home alone along Regent Street when three men approached him and threatened him with a knife.

Malatji said, “The victim ran into a nearby yard, but the suspects managed to corner him and allegedly demanded that he hand over all of his money and his cellphone.”

According to Malatji, when the victim handed over his possessions, the suspects allegedly stabbed him in the back.

“While the suspects were in the process of robbing the victim of his belongings and money, police passed by and noticed the incident occurring. They managed to stop the mugging and arrested all three of the suspects, ” added Malatji.

They are expected to appear in Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court soon.
