Golden Hands reach out

COTSWOLDS - The Golden Hands Knitting Group, which started at Randjes Estate community in Balfour, is an enthusiastic group of women who have used their talents to help others since 1999 and have knitted thousands of garments for babies and children at Cotswolds, Bertram’s School and a few churches.

Since last year, the knitters, as well as the whole Randjes Estate community, have been involved with St Hubert’s Old Age Home in Alexandra.

Managed by Sister Eugenie and her devoted staff, the 36 residents have received clothes, blankets made by the Golden Hands, beds, lockers, as well as the services of a medical practitioner. The abandoned elderly are cared for in a pristine environment and enjoy their golden years as much as they are able to.

In addition, outreach portfolio leader, Biffy Niemeyer of the Old Age Home and her team collect items from all the residents from the Ranjes Estate on a monthly basis and their generosity has benefited Queen Alexandra Home in Orange Grove and two SPCAs, among others.
