The night before, 28 August, Jackson Monageng, left his worker Prince Ngwenya inside the shop to safeguard it. In the early hours of the morning, Ngwenya awoke to the sound of a bakkie right outside the shop. When he looked outside, he noticed two men loading the bakkie with goods from the shop.
Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela from Bramley police said, “A hot chip maker to the value of R22 000 had been stolen along with other goods to the value of R5 000.”
Ngwenya stepped out of the shop and managed to get a good look at the robbers before they got into their van and drove off. He allegedly recognised them as customers and knew where they were staying.
Ngwenya directed Bramley police to their homes where they managed to arrest one suspect shortly after the robbery and later found the other suspect.
The suspects aged 24 and 21 appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court where they were granted bail. They will appear in court again on 9 September.
