Man bust with unlicensed firearm

On 29 November, the suspect had been gambling at the corner of Quartz and Kaptein streets and apparently lost all his money.

Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo of Hillbrow police said, “Security [officers] noticed that the suspect had left and come back with a firearm.”

The security officers called the Hillbrow police. Meanwhile, the man had noticed that the security officers had spotted him and made a run for it. The officers, together with the police, chased the suspect and caught him.

Zondo said, “The firearm’s serial number had been filed off and he was found with eight live rounds. He will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.”
