According to Yeoville Police Station spokesperson, Constable Thabo Malatji, the victims were sleeping at home when three men entered the house holding two firearms.
“They demanded money and threatened the victims that they will be shot if they scream. The suspects took cellphones and left,” he said.
Malatji said the victims followed them out of the house and alerted other residents in the neighbourhood. The suspects were chased by the victims and one of the suspects was apprehended. The other two fled the scene and are still at large.
“After the suspect was apprehended by residents, the police were called,” said Malatji.
Malatji thanked the members of the community for their good work in apprehending one of the suspects, but also appealed to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects to come forward.
