It is claimed that the suspect called the child to his room and raped her.
According to Yeoville police spokesperson Thabo Malatji, the suspect threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone about the incident.
However, Malatji said the mother of the child noticed that her daughter was behaving strangely and after enquiring, the daughter told her of the ordeal.
The mother reported the matter at the Yeoville Police Station and the suspect was arrested. He will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.
Meanwhile, a total of 32 suspects were arrested in Yeoville over the weekend for various crimes ranging from assault, rape, driving under the influence of alcohol, shoplifting and possession of drugs.
