It was reported on IOL.co.za that the mother and daughter were found lying on Claim Street on the evening of 9 January. ER24 paramedics responded to the scene.
ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring said, “On assessment, paramedics found that the mother had already succumbed to her multiple fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for her and she was declared dead. The child was found to be in a critical condition,” he said.
The child was treated for her injuries but died later in hospital.
The circumstances of the incident are still unknown and are under investigation.
