The recent alignment of policing precincts with magistrates’ court jurisdictions has necessitated that Parkview police reconfigure its sectors accordingly, as well as change sector cellphone numbers allocated to patrol vehicles in policing precincts.
The Parkview precinct previously comprised four sectors formerly known as Sector 1, 2, 3 and 4. However, the four sectors have merged into two sectors known as North Sector/Sector 1 and South Sector/Sector 2.
North Sector/Sector 1 comprises Craighall Park, Dunkeld West, Parkhurst and Parktown North. The direct numbers for these suburbs are 071 675 6060 and 071 675 6061.
South Sector/Sector 2 comprises Parkview, Westcliff, Greenside East, Parktown, Parktown West, Greenside, Emmarentia and Roosevelt Park. The direct numbers for these suburbs are 071 675 6062 and 071 675 6063.
According to Sergeant Ramovha, spokesperson for Parkview Police Station, eight cellphones were previously allocated to vehicles on patrol and this will now be reduced to two cellphones per sector to reflect the sector changes.
Numbers to be discontinued but still operational for the time being are 071 675 6064, 071 675 6065, 071 675 6066 and 071 675 6067.
The changes will be implemented gradually in order to ensure service delivery is not compromised.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused in this regard. We urge the community to familiarise themselves with the cellphone numbers for their respective suburbs. Getting hold of the officers on the above numbers could greatly reduce the reaction times to where our officers are needed,” said Ramovha.
