Police discover large amounts of cash in Rosebank park
ROSEBANK - The Rosebank police have been conducting regular raids in the parks and vacant houses of Rosebank to eradicate the drug dealing issue that the prescient is currently facing according to Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe, spokesperson of Rosebank police.
Officers joined forced with CSS Tactical, ADT, 24/7 security, Rosebank management District and Stallion security with great success. “We went to the various parks in the area, at Rose Park, upon our arrival, several vagrants started running in different directions. We gave chase but were unsuccessful, as some they escaped through the Rosebank Mall parking lot,” explained Mdletshe.
He added that they continued to search the Rose Park and found dagga to the value of R5000. The police then raided the Rose Park again on the afternoon of 20 February and found large amounts of money that were abandoned by the vagrants upon seeing the arrival of the police vehicles, “The money found is suspected to be money from dealing with drugs and dagga. “they see our vehicles and immediately start running,” added Mdletshe.
Hugh Wyndham Park was the next park that they raided, they found three packs of white powder that will be sent to forensics for further testing, according to Mdletshe.
“We have informed City Parks about the success of the regular raids and patrols will continue from the police and we will make sure that the parks are clean and rid of drug dealing. Those that are dealing with drugs will be prosecuted with the assistance of City Parks.”
