LISTEN: Sentencing involving missing person Nazeer Mohammed postponed

JOBURG - The case of Robert Nembaka and Rotshidzwa Netshiavha who were convicted in November of stealing Nazeer Mohamed's cellphone, as well as a Toyota Corolla and an Opel Astra registered to Nazeer’s dealership has been postponed to 29 March.

The sentencing of Robert Nembaka and Rotshidzwa Netshiavha who were convicted in November last year for stealing Nazeer Mohammed’s cellphone and two vehicles registered to Mohammed’s car dealership has been postponed to 29 March.

Mohammed, a Johannesburg businessman who has been missing for four years was last seen at his car dealership on Jules Street in Jeppestown on 7 December 2012.

The two men were due to be sentenced in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 22 February on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and theft. The case was moved to 29 March to allow social workers enough time to file their assessment on the two suspects.

Mohammed’s mother Shaieda Seepye said she was upset by the postponement as the case had been going on for almost three years. “I am very disappointed with the way the court has been handling the case, it is very unfair,” she said.

Mohammed’s father was equally downhearted. “They find every excuse available to prolong the case,” said the gutted Abie Seepye.
