Hillbrow police nab suspect on gun charges following tip-off

BEREA – The Hillbrow police, acting on a tip-off, recently nabbed a man for possession of an unlicensed firearm in Berea.

The arrest took place on 2 April according to Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo, spokesperson for the Hillbrow Police Station.

“The police found the man parking his vehicle on a street corner in the area and acting on the tip-off, proceeded to search the car,” he said.

Upon searching the car, police found the firearm, which was hidden in the car’s bonnet, and they promptly arrested the suspect for the incident. Zondo confirmed that the suspect was detained at the Hillbrow Police Station, where he was charged with the possession of an unlicensed firearm.

“The suspect has since appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ court to face his charges,” he said. The case continues.
