This incident took place on 18 April at about 11pm while, according to Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo, spokesperson for the Hillbrow Police Station, the officers were patrolling the area.
“As the police were carrying out their duties, they noticed a suspicious-looking male walking along the road, stopped him and proceeded to search him,” Zondo said.
The police then found a 9mm pistol loaded with 10 live rounds in his possession and arrested and detained the man at the Hillbrow Police Station. Zondo confirmed that the suspect was charged with possession of an unlicenced firearm and has since appeared in court to face his charges.
