Suspects apprehended after high-speed chase

PARKTOWN NORTH - Two suspects have been arrested by Parkview police.

Two suspects have been arrested following a high-speed chase from Parktown North to Alexandra.

Constables Maliyakhe Nzama and Lawrence Makhudu followed the suspects under the command of Major Sandile Mkhize and conducted the fruitful arrest of the suspects and the recovery of all items stolen during a house robbery, including the resident’s vehicle.

“With the co-operation of the resident and the help of Cortac, the police were able to conclude the arrest. A firearm which was used during the robbery was also recovered. The estimated value of the goods recovered is around a million,” said Sergeant Iris Phoko of Parkview Police Station.

Phoko explained that while all the suspects were arrested for this house robbery, more arrests are imminent for criminals operating in the Parkview policing precinct.

“Both suspects have appeared at Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court for the crime committed, however, the case has been postponed as investigations are still underway,” said Phoko.

She urged the community to keep gates closed and locked at all times and for residents to familiarise themselves with their environment so that they will notice something which doesn’t look right and alert the police immediately.

“Please inform domestic workers and gardeners about panic buttons and the police station’s number so they can react fast to any suspicious activity,” urged Phoko.
