Style tips to look professional during winter
JOHANNESBURG – Dominique Wolf, otherwise known as the Style Coach, makes her living by helping people look good. And she has a few tips for this crazy weather we’ve been having.
The Style Coach, otherwise known as Dominique Wolf, helps people wanting to up their corporate fashion factor during autumn.
She was kind enough to share a few fashion tips for those of us who are suffering from the cold mornings and scorching afternoons. “The only advice I can give you is to layer!” she laughed.
Wolf suggests that you start off with a vest, but not too skimpy if you’re off to work, or a T-shirt topped off with a cardigan, then a blazer, finishing it off with a scarf. “All of these are perfect because you can de-layer and then layer up again to be warm or cool enough. And it really is the easiest thing,” she advised.
When it comes to shoes, Wolf says kitten heels are her absolute favourites,
“Because it’s manageable height-wise,” she oh-so-wisely added. Flats are also great, and on trend, but Wolf suggests that women opt for a pointed toe rather than a rounded one for a fast way to polish off your look.
Wolf also spilt the beans on what basic wardrobe items everyone should have, “These are the things I’d recommend spending a little bit more money on, and then add trends that you spend less money on, such as things that come and go every season. Buy good quality basics and then add trends and colours to them as you go along.
“Ladies, stock up on a good quality black blazer, a white collared shirt, a little black dress, a sheath dress (preferably one that falls to your knees), a pencil skirt, a good pair of leather shoes, a good pair of tailored pants and a sturdy handbag.
“I think accessorising is not only about jewellery. Accessories can be as simple as putting on a different colour. Or a different coloured handbag or something simple that adds a bit of your personal style. I think that is what accessories need to be, it’s a way to add your own style to any outfit.”
When offering tips for fashion-conscious men, she concluded, “Guys, you should consider getting a blazer, a white and blue shirt, a good pair of pants, leather shoes, a sturdy leather belt and a good watch.”
