Star gazing at Parkview Golf Course

PARKVIEW - Parkview Golf Course will host a star gazing event on 8 July.

Now where is the Southern Cross?

Parkview resident, Theresa Gibbon, seems to be wondering as she scans the heavens in a practice run for the mid-winter star-gazing evening to be held at Parkview Golf Club on Friday, 8 July.

Leading astronomer, Gil Jacobs, will present a short lecture and slide show of the night sky over the suburb before guests, all wrapped warmly against the evening chill, adjourn with hot chocolate or gluhwein (mulled wine) to the course fairway to lie back on blankets and, with Jacobs’s guidance, study the heavens.

The event is open to the public and starts at 6pm. Entry is free, and a light supper (at R100 a person) and refreshments are available at the bar.

Parkview Golf Club will host the star gazing as part of their centenary celebrations.
